چکیده

This dissertation discusses the properties of two open quantum systems with a general class of irreversible quantum dynamics. First we study Lieb-Robinson bounds in a quantum lattice systems. This bound gives an estimate for the speed of growth of the support of an evolved local observable up to an exponentially small error. In a second model we study the properties of a leaking cavity pumped by a random atomic beam. We begin by describing quantum systems on an infinite lattice with associated finite or infinite dimensional Hilbert space. The generator of the dynamics of this system is of the Lindblad-Kossakowski type and consists of two parts: the Hamiltonian interactions and the dissipative terms. We allow both of them to be time-dependent. This generator satisfies some suitable decay condition in space. We show that the dynamics with a such generator on a finite system is a well-defined quantum dynamics in a sense of a norm-continuous cocycle of unit preserving completely positive maps. Lieb-Robinson bounds for irreversible dynamics were first considered in [9] in the classical context and in [19] for a class of quantum lattice systems with finite-range interactions. We extend those results by proving a Lieb-Robinson bound for lattice models with a more general class of quantum dynamics. Then we use Lieb-Robinson bounds for a finite lattice systems to prove the existence of the thermodynamic limit of the dynamics. We show that in a strong limit there exits a strongly continuous cocycle of unit preserving completely positive maps.

Thermodynamics in the limit of irreversible reactions

For many real physico-chemical complex systems detailed mechanism includes both reversible and irreversible reactions. Such systems are typical in homogeneous combustion and heterogeneous catalytic oxidation. Most complex enzyme reactions include irreversible steps. The classical thermodynamics has no limit for irreversible reactions whereas the kinetic equations may have such a limit. We repre...

Dynamical evolution of nonclassical properties in cavity quantum electrodynamics with a single trapped ion

In this paper, by considering a system consisting of a single two-level trapped ion interacting with a single-mode quantized radiation field inside a lossless cavity, the temporal evolution of the ionic and the cavity-field quantum statistical properties including photon-counting statistics, quantum fluctuations of the field quadratures and quantum fluctuations of the ionic dipole variables are...

Quasi-monte Carlo Studies of Spatial Averages of Quadratic Maps

Using Quasi-Monte Carlo integration, we found numerically that the spatial averages of chaotic quadratic maps either uctuate periodically or converge to constants. 1. Introduction A series of papers 3] 4] 5] 7] motivated us to study the dynamics of spatial averages of dynamical systems, especially, those with chaotic behaviors. The problem arises naturally when one considers the collective beha...

Wigner measures and quantum Aubry-Mather theory

In this paper we investigate the quantum action problem using Wigner measures on the torus. We prove existence, study its main properties, and prove convergence to Mather measures in the semiclassical limit. We also indicate how to extend these techniques to the study of stochastic Mather measures. (*) Supported in part by FCT/POCTI/FEDER (**) Supported in part by the Center for Mathematical An...

Dynamical Behavior of a Rigid Body with One Fixed Point (Gyroscope). Basic Concepts and Results. Open Problems: a Review

The study of the dynamic behavior of a rigid body with one fixed point (gyroscope) has a long history. A number of famous mathematicians and mechanical engineers have devoted enormous time and effort to clarify the role of dynamic effects on its movement (behavior) – stable, periodic, quasi-periodic or chaotic. The main objectives of this review are: 1) to outline the characteristic features of...
